What's the best material for a Canadian flag?
Selecting the Right Material for the Maple Leaf
When purchasing a Canadian flag, the best material depends entirely on where and how you plan to fly it.
For High-Wind Areas: Spun Polyester
If your flagpole is in a wide-open area, near the coast, or on top of a tall building, 2-ply spun polyester is the absolute best choice. It is thick, highly tear-resistant, and engineered to withstand heavy winds. The tradeoff is that it is heavy, requiring a strong breeze to unfurl it.
For Light-Wind Areas: Nylon
If you live in a residential area with trees and buildings that block the wind, nylon is the best material. It is lightweight, glossy, and will fly beautifully in the slightest breeze.
For Promotional Use: Knitted Polyester
If you are printing a Canadian flag on a custom feather flag or utilizing it for a temporary outdoor event, standard 110gsm knitted polyester provides the best balance of print quality, cost, and durability.
