How to get rid of wrinkles in a polyester flag?
Removing Wrinkles from Polyester
When you unbox a new custom printed polyester flag (like a feather flag or event banner), it will likely have fold lines. Here is how to make it look perfect.
1. The Steamer Method (Best)
A handheld garment steamer is the safest and most effective way to remove wrinkles from polyester. Hang the flag up and run the steamer up and down the fabric. The wrinkles will fall out almost instantly.
2. The Ironing Method
You can iron polyester, but you must use a cool or warm setting (synthetics setting). Never use high heat. Always use a pressing cloth (like a thin towel) between the iron and the printed flag to ensure you don't scorch the fabric or damage the dye-sublimation ink.
3. The Sun and Wind Method
If you are setting up a tensioned flag (like a teardrop flag or a flag banner on a flexible pole), simply assembling the flag and placing it outdoors in the warm sun is often enough. The tension of the pole combined with the heat of the sun will naturally pull the wrinkles out over a few hours.
