How long does a printed flag last outdoors?
Outdoor Lifespan of Printed Flags
The lifespan of a printed flag depends entirely on how and where it is used. There is no magic flag that lasts forever outdoors.
24/7 Outdoor Exposure
If you leave a standard polyester printed flag outdoors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through rain, wind, and sun, you can expect it to last 3 to 6 months. The fly edge will eventually fray, and the sun will slowly fade the ink.
Daytime Only Exposure
If you put your promotional feather flag out in the morning and bring it inside at night (and during severe storms), it can easily last 1 to 2 years.
How to Maximize Lifespan
To get the longest life out of your flags, choose Airmesh material for high-wind environments, ensure your bases rotate freely with the wind, and never fly them during winter blizzards or severe thunderstorms.
